Mayor Eric Adams signed into law a new bill that will require every city-owned vehicle to be electric by 2038.
This bill is the latest in the city's mission to cut back on emissions and serve as a trailblazer in sustainability.
"Zero-emission vehicles means cleaner air for all New Yorkers. Fewer greenhouse emissions and cost savings on fuel and maintenance are just a real win-win," said Adams.
Adams also announced that four solar carports will be coming to New York City Housing Authority properties for residents and employees to charge electric vehicles using renewable energy.
