In a world where petroleum refineries' supply chain role is being discussed, analyzed and even reshaped amidst shutdowns and reconversions to greener alternatives, we still see that their future is nowhere near to an end.
During 2024 we added a total of 25 refineries to TankTerminals.com.
Out of which 15 petroleum refineries have this status: Planned. Let's now zoom out to this specific segment.
Total number of planned petroleum refineries worldwide >>> 29. The following are 3 takeaways from the International Energy Agency, which do correlate with the data above. The surge in demand from Asia, particularly China and India, is poised to dramatically reshape global product trade balances by 2030. Southeast Asia's oil demand is set to increase to 7mn b/d in 2050 under current policies. The Middle East, meanwhile, is set to solidify its position as the world’s undisputed product export kingpin. This dominance stems from a combination of factors: increased refining activity and a regional decline in fuel oil demand. The surplus created by these trends will be readily absorbed by Asia’s import needs. Europe’s diesel demand is forecast to take a significant plunge, leading to a subsequent decline in net diesel imports.
Here are the most direct benefits I could think of for a company that needs to do market research and analysis of tank terminals, petroleum refineries, marine traffic, pipelines, etc: (1) Midstream terminals and refineries' infrastructural characteristics > with up to 80 data labels per asset (including handled products). (2) Terminals and refineries' logistical performance > with proprietary algorithms that calculate statistics using AIS data and berth polygons. (3) Terminals and refineries' product flows > with crude, refinery feedstock, petroleum products, LNG, LPG, biodiesel and chemicals. (4) Ship visits at terminals & refineries > all the tankers that visited each terminal or refineries, with arrival/departure dates and previously visited facilities. (5) Tank Truck Operators > with commercial information and a map with dots that show the places where they deliver their services. (6) Rail Operators > with commercial information and a map with dots that show the places where they deliver their services. (7) Pipeline Companies > with commercial information and a map with 2 nodes to see the start and end of the pipeline. (8) A real-time map that shows bulk liquid tankers only > with the feature to save your tanker(s) and directly spot them each time you require. (9) Ship tracking of tankers-only marine traffic > with status, destination, last port, ship type, gross tonnage, DWT, length, beam, draft and visited facilities (with downloadable data) of up to 27 tanker types.
Finally, please note that our data analysis possibilities can be done at a: Regional level: North America, Europe, Asia, Central America & Caribbean, South America, Middle East, or Oceania
