Britain’s Tullow Oil Plc, has announced new oil find at its Enyenra-3A well in Ghana.
Tullow Oil Plc is the lead partner in Ghana's massive offshore Jubilee oil field, Ghana's largest oil field. Commercial oil production at the Jubilee field began 15 December 2010 and according to Tullow Oil Plc, over 15 million barrels of oil have been produced so far.
Tullow Oil Plc’s Enyenra-3A appraisal well in the company’s Deepwater Tano offshore concession successfully encountered oil in high quality sandstone reservoirs. Pressure data indicates that the Enyenra-3A well has confirmed an up-dip extension of the Enyenra oil field, state-owned GBC news agency reported.
The Enyenra-3A appraisal well is located 4 miles north of the Owo-1 discovery well and roughly 11 miles north of the Enyenra-2A well.
Tullow Oil Plc announced in its half-yearly results for the six months ended 30 June, 2011 that oil production from the Jubilee offshore oil field has significantly boosted its oil revenues to over $1 billion.
Tullow Exploration Director Angus McCoss said “this excellent result demonstrates that we are close to declaring the Enyenra and Tweneboa development commercial. Although the ultimate extent of the fields is yet to be fully determined, confirmation of this up-dip extension and long oil column in Enyenra is very encouraging.”
