KIRKUK, Iraq, April 26 (UPI) -- Oil exports from the Kurdish region of Iraq to Turkey resumed following a four-day disruption to a sabotaged oil pipeline, officials said.
Militants last week blew up a section of a pipeline in the al-Hadhar region of Iraq's Ninawa province carrying crude oil to the Turkish port of Ceyhan. Mosul, the provincial capital, is considered a stronghold for al-Qaida in Iraq, though there was no claim of responsibility for the attack.
Officials with the North Oil Co. told the Voices of Iraq news agency Monday that exports resumed during the weekend.
"Exportation resumed (Sunday)," company representatives said.
Around 25 percent of Iraqi crude is transported from the region. Iraq exports around 450,000 barrels of crude oil through the pipeline to Turkish ports on the Black Sea.
