Oran, Algeria, 20 April - Angola is considering joining the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF),Angola’s Oil Minister said during a meeting of the organisation in Algeria.
“At the moment we have observer status but we are going to consider full membership because we have already begun producing gas,2 said Botelho de Vasconcelos, adding that he was in Oran to establish the first contacts with the organisation.
Representatives of the 11 GECF member countries met in Oman to discuss cartelising their offer in order to get an appropriate price for their gas taking into consideration the investments made.
The 11 members of the organisation are Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.
Five other countries currently have observer status – Angola, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Norway and Yemen. (macauhub)
